If you’ve got a business, product or service you are offering to the marketplace, I’m sure your goal is to make people within your niche see you as someone they can trust as an authority figure when it comes to solving problems within that niche.
However there are some things you might be doing unknowingly that is preventing people from seeing as an authority within your niche and you might want to fix these things today after reading through this post.
So let’s dive into the 8 things that can prevent you from being seen as an authority within your niche.
1) You use the social media platforms for content promotion
I guess you might not have noticed you’ve been guilty of this all these while, like most marketers promoting their business online you’ve been putting way too much promotional content about your business or offer on your Facebook, Twitter or Google Plus pages, trying to educate your friends about your comp plan and how good your product is over your competitors.
One thing you have to know is that people don’t get on social media sites to learn or read about companies and opportunities. What people do on social media is connect with friends and get entertained with cool stuffs that help them pass time.
So if you’ve been posting too much of your business offers or long educational articles on social media, you need to have an island of your own online, that is your own private space online that is free from all the clutter of information, videos and advertisements that distracts people from listening to your message on social media.
You need a blog that you can share value with your prospects overtime, after each post on your blog you can post the blog link on social media to help drive traffic to your blog which gives people a strong perception about you and positions you as an authority in your niche.
2) You use social media for sales
You might also have been guilty of using social media to promote your offers before now. One thing you should know today is that people rarely get on social media to buy stuff, they go there for entertainment and socializing so any other kind of messages especially sales related messages puts them off.
What you should be doing is give valuable tips related to your niche on your social media pages and then channel that traffic to a squeeze capture page that gives them even more value in exchange for their email address. This way you can gradually build a very targeted list of prospective buyers from your social media posts.
3) Your website/blog has a static page
If you have a website or blog with a static page you will have to update it frequently with new relevant information because most repeat visitors who visit your website a second time only to see the same information they saw the last time will get turned off.
This shows you aren’t consistent with your business or you’ve run dry of ideas and so they stop seeing you as authority within your niche.
4) You don’t teach your market/niche
People love free information that gives them value and helps them solve problems they encounter daily. So if you want to be seen as an authority within your niche you need to start sharing valuable information daily or weekly for free with your prospects. This helps you stand out from the other marketers within your niche that bombard their prospects with sales pitches all year round.
5) You’re scared to sell
If you are like most people online, I guess you’re scared to sell stuff to people because you feel you’ve not gotten the kind of results people are looking for.
Don’t let this hinder you from giving your offer to the marketplace.
Always sell with value.
As long as you’re giving value to your market, learn to give them an attractive offer that helps them solve their problems.
Remember money equals value in the marketplace. The amount of money you get is in direct proportion with the value you’re giving to the market.
6) Waiting to become an expert
There’s nothing more that can hamper your success in any niche like waiting until you become a leader or expert before you start creating value.
You can start from where you are today.
Learn something new within your niche, put to action what you’ve learnt and then teach others within your niche what you’ve learnt and people will start seeing you as an expert or authority because you’re teaching them valuable stuff for free.
7) Not knowing what to talk about
If you were like me when I started online, you might have experienced that you really have nothing to say to people within your niche. But that is not true, you have something to say but you think everyone already knows about what you have to say.
One thing you must know is that there are arguably thousands of newbies out there who don’t have an idea or know a tenth of what you already know about your niche and are looking for people to teach or give them better clarification.
Who says you can’t be the person to help educate them?
Believe in yourself and start teach whatever it is you already know about your niche or learn something new and teach it to your audience.
Do this and you will definitely have something to say to your prospects.
8) You fail to invest in yourself
There’s a saying that you can’t give what you don’t have.
Likewise you can’t teach what you don’t know. So you need to invest in yourself and in your education. There are thousands of resources that help you become an expert in whatever niche you are in.
Invest in those resources by buying them and then become a student of what you learn and you will find out you now have a million and one things to teach or offer people within your niche for free.
As you do this you will see people will start becoming attracted to you because you’ve positioned yourself as an authority that gives value and provides solutions to problems with your products and services.
